If we thought the match was going to be a lot of grinding and pushes, #2 proved otherwise.

At our table, the auction took on a different momentum since the 1 opening was (more) natural:

My 6 was aggressive, but I felt I had substantial extras. By the 6 could have been a massive blunder, since partner does not promise both majors, so in retrospect I like 6.

I also felt a forcing pass was on, based on Timo's 4 call, and my club void and extras say "bid". Because we are in a forcing pass, this isn't our strongest sequence (pass and 6 are). 6 is an interesting option. Is it a cue looking for a club control, or is it simply 'pick a major'?

Over 7, I wanted to confirm my club void. While in a sense I am inviting 7, perhaps pass is too much. Timo played me for a little more including the A, however, even if I have the A, 7 is making because of our mirrors. Its quite possible 7 is making if I am 6=5=2=0.

Gnasher and Catch 22 reached the par spot and Giorgio did well to take the profit.

This cost us 9 and the score was 0-17 now. Thats all I am going to post for now, until I can get the handviewer right.

Not sure I can read the bidding but if south bid 2c Michaels this brings back the discussion of what does it mean as far as power?

If it shows weak or strong then north may play you for more hcp?

If south bid 6s it is noted south thought he had alot of extras.

Undiscussed, but I don't play split range and I doubt Timo does either.

This had been an advatage of spilt range overcalls, but no need to talk about this anymore, because without discussion it is surely at least BBF standard to play it different.

I really like Timos bidding here, but not yours. The sequence you mentioned yourself- 2 6 X looks great too me. But as usual it is always easier to be wise after the hand.
Kind Regards

Roland

I have zero problems with the bidding until
we jump to 7s---when p bids 6 spades they are
denying 1st round dia control because it is
too easy to bid 6d (in case we belong in a grand)
with first round dia control. Passing opps
7c bid and thus showing 1st round club control
was entirely correct.
