I assume 2S was weak? This is a 100% pass for me and I don't even need to think hard about it.

I'd have opened 2, and would have an easy 3 bid over 2-P-P.

I agree with that part as it puts partner in control. If they overcall 2 and pard can't make a bid or penalty double, I'm passing.

There is no right bid over the given auction as partner could have anything.

Yeah, our 2 can be a zero count which is why I'd bid again.

The reason for my posting was mostly to poll on logical alternatives. The North player tanked for a fair length of time and then the South player found 3 and they ended up in 4 making 5. At least this is how it was described at Judy Kay-Wolff's blog.

This should be a clear pass - If partner couldn't take a call, I don't want anything to do with this hand

I would bid 3. RHO could not open and LHO preempts. Partner has some values, so I am not going to pass.

The alternative would be 2NT, converting 3 to 3.

It is possible that my 3 call will work out badly (such as when both opps have maximum values for their actions and partner has a misfitting hand), but that's the way it goes.

"Since Broadway was a prairie." Huh. Not sure which Broadway she's on about, but the one I know is in New York City, and was never a prairie. Forest, maybe.

Yes, some players need to be educated about their ethical obligations. But going berserk and screaming about it does not seem to me a useful way to proceed.

True, except for her use of the word "cockapitzy". That was just odd.

Maybe I am converting +100 to a minus by bidding, but I doubt it. P clearly has some values, and some in my seat would have opened 2 already. So I may be catching up a bit. I don't have the shape for a dbl, and no defense, so I'd bid 2nt and convert 3 to .

Folks, she was just having a bad hair day.

I remember once losing a score because my partner "hesitated", or so said the opps.

What likely happened was:
we were playing online
my partner would not remeber lebensohl if he heard a voice from the burning bush
thing goes 1nt-3sapdes and
he was likely putzing around looking for his lebensohl note
i was mad, but i was mad with him.

Sorta makes me wish I played 2N as Two Places in this auction, but I don't usually have that agreement available. Endplayed into pass.

If I have to express an opinion about a 3H bid I would rank it fourth, behind pass, double, and 2N (even unusual hoping partner understands a correction of 3D to 3H), though.

Especially since she seems to have such a poor appreciation of the way the laws work and of the director's role.
