I blame East. If he didn't have enough for 3S the first time (fair enough) he certainly did the second time, and then West has an auto raise to 4S.

East 110 %

IMO after east chooses pass over 3 (a not unreasonable choice) he has to act over his partner's 3call with either 3 or 4

We agree. East is asleep to not bid 3 the 2nd time.

Of course, 4 can go minus... but East should certainly bid and get you there...

Blame the players in other tables for not easily setting 4S. Still, you should be there ;)

Actually the whole auction is odd. Sth should raise to 4C. Now it gets interesting.

;) I tend to agree with most of the comments. A lift to 4 is automatic even sitting opposite a desperado. I might well have bid 5 depending on ................ Ten trumps (maybe) in and a stiff and a likely stiff in pard's hand make for a powerful combined playing holding. See, LOTT or the Lawrence-Witgren alternative for a proper analytical framework. Only the king is bad.

East probably ought to pass the 3 preempt, but once west doubles or bids 3 a raise to game is clear to my way of thinking.

I blame East completely.

I remember this hand. Partner opened a natural 2; over 2 I raised to 3; partner eventually carried on to 5 over 4. We weren't doubled and somehow were allowed to make it.

In the auction given, yes I think East could do more.

For those who say that 4 should be down and that NS lousy defense is to blame, please explain to me how 4 is going down (except on an opening heart lead from South).

I don't see how leading a heart is so obvious against 4 by East.

East. Pard's bidding some of your cards, but not this much of a fine passed hand.
