In German we have the saying: Only the monkeys climb alone.

So 5 ♦ would be a monkey bid according to that definition. My partner heared me bidding diamonds twice, didn't he?

Double. I believe that I have 2 defensive tricks and a partner who opened the bidding, and I have no assurance that my side is making anything above the 4 level (indeed, I have no assurance that my side is making anything AT the 4 level).

As for the title of this thread, I am sure the answer is yes.

I would normally be reluctant to go past 3NT with something as ordinary as five-five.

I suppose I concede that a pure five-five is possible.

With five-five I would normally double or pass if it is clearly forcing and keeps 3NT in the picture.
