How do BBO players reach rank J, Q, K, A

Just wondering what players due to reach the "Royals" designation of J, Q, K, or A. I suppose I'm also interested in stars. Not at all doubting the qualifications of people with the rankings, just wondering what determines who gets them.

Those a positional rather than absolute , Top: 1, 10, 100, 250 if I remember correctly.

the star designation qualifications changed over the years but i believe most of them have represented their country in a major tournament.
