ss= single suiter. just in case someone else is wondering (it took me about 3 minutes).

I don't like it because I like to know how long partner's major is. Of course, neither does Capp/Brozel/DONT/Lionel/etc show it so my opinion is not universally accepted. I nowadays like Multi-Landy or Meyerson.
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.

Is this over a weak NT or any NT. If 15-18, why have X as penalties? If over a weak NT why have ambiguous bids?

Another variation on this theme is--- Try 2nd position opp 1n/t(no matter weak/strong) 2cl=stayman(asking pard have u a 4 card Major no=2d) also one has transfers example 2d=bid hts pard,2h=bid spades pard.
but in 4th position one has stayman but no transfers.
this does upset the applecart for the 1n/t openers.
one has to remember ones position... pass pass 1n/t you are now in 2nd position, also pass 1n/t pass pass you are now 4th position having originally passed.
One still has the option of the x=primarily penalty.in all positions
