7H is super easy in the first auction. In the 2nd auction I would just bid 6.

I'm going to go for Option B as I prefer that more. Though I wouldn't mind A as well B)
Since I'm going for B, after we show our stuff with 6C partner's 6D looks like some sort of last-train, wanting to go further and seeing if we have any more extras. Our 8th heart is big, And partner's 3 aces are going to take care of our 3minor cards, leaving 1 loser left in our hand. If partner had long spades he'd probably bid the grand himself looking at all his entries. I guess the question is if partner has Ax of clubs would he have bid the grand.. I think I'm going to settle for 6H since partner knows what I have for 1-4 at vul. But I can just smell some possible squeeze chances. But what if partner just has an extra king.. Ok, I give, I'm bidding 7H.

Agree that 7H is very easy after opening 4S. Indeed, this hand is too strong for a 4H opening in my opinion.

After opening 1H though things look worse. However, give partner only the promised aces and we have 12 top tricks. Obviously partner has more than that because he bids 6D. I would kick it in.
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.

couldn't he just have the DQ or SQ? Do we have more tricks than partner expects given that we opened 1H and rebid 4H?

I bid 7 on both, life is too short. The first I'm 100% confident, the second I'm 75% confident.

Depends on who is "we" I guess, it doesn't promise an 8-card suit when I bid it. Anyway, even if partner just had Q (I think he shouldn't consider Q as useful after we denied the K) we are still not in a dramatically bad grand. (Ruff out K or squeeze?)

You would open 1H and rebid 4H with 7 hearts and just AQ K?

Ya seems like a normal 4H opener but to each their own. I guess you have to bid 7H.

7H on both.

I've got an extra heart.

Have to say I admire the precision of these methods.

Fair enough. I think stayman is clever, and I mean that seriously not sarcastically.

Not sure what this has to do with sex (or gender as they say in newspeak). Anyway, I open Namyats and then I think 6 is enough although I find it difficult. If not playing Namyats I open 4 but then I have to accept the invite.

I don't open 1 and rebid 4 on this sort of hand so I had to go with a 4 opening. Thereafter bidding 7 seems easy - I have extras and partner is not concerned about the missing spade king.

The 1st auction is a bit strange. If I read it correctly, we have all the keys + trump Q and pard knows we got the club king, so why can't he just bid 6/7 on his own? Our hand can't possibly have the diamond king (we preempted) and, if we had xx/xxx of diamonds, whether or not discards are possible should be bloody obvious to pard. So what is he doing?

The 2nd auction makes more sense since then we COULD have the diamond king. In this case I'll bid 6.

In the 1st case, since I'm not sure what pard is doing so I'll just bid 6 as well.

Well, I opened 1 and didn't hessitate a second to bid 7, same contract as the other table. If you bid 7, you can try and make it, althou actually you need a lot of table filling to play it, so playing it as a problem won´t be great.

I agree with opening 4 on this hand. Sure - It'll most probably be my best 4 opening ever. But I'm allowed to have a maximum.

As for the rest of the auction - this is pretty standard IMO - at least this is how I'd continue. 6 in my methods is asking for 3rd round control, which I can provide. Easiest 7 ever.

In auction B the meaning of 6 would be the same to me, so I'd bid the grand without second thought.
Kind regards,
Harald
