Scoring: IMP

2NT-3C
3D-3S
3NT

I'll give you 2 hands given to me after tournement (..and a couple of beers). This is hand 1. You reach 3NT and LHO leads 2 (4th best) for RHO's Q.
How do you plan the play?
(Probably experts will easily find this...Try it without looking at other answers.
PS: one of the 2 hands probably comes from a book.. fI don't know which one..

I'd play a diamonds to the queen and take the spade hook. If the spade hook fails or the diamonds split 4-1 I can play a club to the king later.
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.

Suppose after winning QH with Ace of Hearts I play the 10H. LHO covers, I duck. If he continues hearts I take the King, play AK of diamonds, diamond to Q and exit with the last heart. This makes if diamonds are 3-2 and (as seems likely on the lead) west started with Jxxx in hearts.

- When this problem was given to me, my first guess was A followed by 's and exit with 's. But RHO has Q9x. Then I saw the correct line (Not bad after a few beers :P ).
- In reality RHO played J to the first trick. The best chanche is still A followed by the T?
- I wonder how many experts find the right play at the table for the two hands I posted and how long they have to think about this (..Do you see the correct line right away?)
