Scoring: IMP

Test

6 buttons added to post screens to enter hands via forms.

NO error nor consistency of any kind checked for now.
UPDATE: the example given here is NOT valid anymore  Suits have to be entered from higher card to lower, 10 being entered as "T", "10" won't be accepted.
UPDATE: First hand is checked for at most 13 cards, others have to have same number as the first one.
UPDATE: Check that cards are not repeated.

Thanks to previewers (inquiry, JRG, Free and Misho)

This is great, really starting to like the new software  And indeed, a lot more possibilities to make some stuff look better!

Use your mouse to Select the entire white space above to see the answer. This is what hidden text does. :-)

In the old forum we had some font changes we could use to do this. Here I see only two options to put six spaces between 1H and 1S or 1 and 1 to change:

example 1
1 1 to...

example 2
1

1, or

example 3

1      1

In the frist example I put in six spaces, like you did in your post, this shows up as only one space. Example 2 I used the hidden text option (one of the nice buttons) to put in text that doesnot show up unless you point at it with your mouse. The third example shows that in "quotes" the spaces that don't show up in example 1 are displayed. You can also see this by looking at the section of your post that I quoted where you six spaces magically reappeared.

Note however, if you quote a section wiht hidden text, funny things happen. Like this....(see the dashes I used?)

Which means people who quote your "bidding" in replies will have this ghost like thing in the quotes if they don't stop to replace the hidden stuff with real blanks. NOTE: don't use blanks as hidden text or the extra "spaces" still don't show up. Hope this helps.

Many thanks for the information, Ben.

Normal HTML reduces always to one single space all series of spaces it meets.
To avoid it one must use "hard spaces" (aka non breaking spaces) whose code is

I think I found the way to insert non breaking spaces in these forum pages: the code is  &-#160; (without '-' between first two signs. I had to put that '-' so that you see the code. If I didn't you would see only a space !).
each   &-#160; adds a hard space :
1             1

You probably remember :
West North East South
1H 1S 2N! 4S
5C Pass 5H Dbl
Rdbl Pass Pass Pass
As you see all spaces disappear with this normal HTML new forum software.

With the &-#160; code the lining up reappears !
The program now reads a .lin file and creates automatically:
Scoring: IMP

West    North   East    South
1       1       2N!      4
5       Pass     5       Dbl
Rdbl     Pass     Pass     Pass

Before using the &-#160; I couldn't get a correct lining up of the auction.

Hi, Misho.

Do yo really want to fight with a buggy, undocumented, dirty and ugly 6-page C software draft which doesn't obey but to its master's voice, only because it reads a .lin file and writes a few text lines that you would have to cut and paste into your post ?

Keep away from it !

Hi, Gerardo, and many thanks for the tags.

I wrote a program which reads a .lin file, asks about hand rotation (0, 1, 2, 3 positions), asks about display (FULLHAND, ONEHAND etc.... except ONESUIT) and writes the lines in a text file to be cut and pasted.
But it is not all tested yet.
Even when it is, it will remain undocumented and without error catching. A draft for home use.

OK, Misho.
I will send you the v.03d version today : the source and the compiled .exe

I will find your e-mail address somewhere, or I will see if private messages admit attached files.
Or I will send the stuff to your best friend, and he will know how to send it to you.

No problem.

16:08 GMT : files sent to your hotmail address.
