CA CQ. What choice do we have?

If East shows up with 5 clubs we can then start trying to be clever with things like ruffing two diamonds and trump-couping at the end.

Agree with ahydra.

No losers in side suits, so nothing else to do but tackle trumps. If they break 5-1, perhaps the 9 will drop. If not, there may still be a line of play to score six trump tricks.

I assume the given auction is not what actually occurred.

A then 10 is slightly better imho. Just occasionally LHO will not cover the 10 from Kxx and RHO will not get their ruff.

You might need to ruff a diamond in hand first so that you can use all the dummy entries profitably, but you feel very stupid when LHO has 2 diamonds and 9xxx clubs.

So you need to ruff a diamond early or east can win and return a heart. This is a pretty unlikely layout though. Ruffing a diamond early loses to some nice trump breaks with 4-2 diamonds, which is more likely.

i wouldn't say a 4-2 diamond break was more likely than a 5-2 club break on this hand.

lol

I though this hand was about cashing AK early in an attemp to discard our spade to prevent a ruff.
