No

I am not stopping in game with 9 count +fit vs a 2 opener. I almost have a 3 card limit raise (i wouldnt but most people do) if pd opened 1 and it will be too pessimistic to pass 4 now imo.

I have seen similar auctions so many times, south thinking he has done enough by cueing, North thinking he already opened 2 and he has nothing extra, both satisfied with their bids playing a slam or grandslam hand in game. Unless of course if pd is known to open 2 agressiveley. But even then there is a reason why he choosed to open 2, and that reason is he valued his hand more than opening 1.

Interesting auction; does 3 promise heart support or can it be a probe for 3NT? Is 3/4 stronger than a direct 4?

3 is showing heart support but I expect partner to bid 3N with a stopper.
3 is showing a 5+ suit, I'm not sure 4 exists in this auction.

(this is a new partnership so we don't have detailed agreements for these sequences)

Definitely keep bidding. I'd like to see a poll on what people think of 4S, 4NT, 5C and 5H as possible bids now...

Gnarly and undiscussed in my partnership. I would bid 4 and hope for the best.

If pard bids 4nt I'm bidding 5. That wasn't blackwood was it?
If they bid 5 I'll try 5
If they bid 5 I didn't go this far not to bid slam.

I have my apologies ready.

Pd can not have a hand that has no cue available btw. He couldnt even bid 3NT over 3, try to place 22 hcp in 3 suits. I am not even sure if 3 neccesarilly promised fit so i am actually expecting a good suit from pd.

3 bidder can have a strong hand with or without stopper and no fit, yet too strong to just bid 3NT.

what was responder supposed to bid with this ? He would pass because it is w/w and he is happy to play 2 doubled if pd doubles, and he will cue over 3 since he is too strong to bid 3 NT.

Yes. We will discuss what a 2C opening bid looks like, if we are not safe at at least the 5-level. 4S seems right at the moment, since I am not sure I have really shown the Ace yet.

Pass=values over 2S could have been a whole lot less than what I have.

Yes, basically it should be any hand better than 2nd negative imo.

I wish I had spent some more time thinking this at the table. Partner actually forgot pass=values and thought I was showing negative but I could still have saved it.
